New Study Support System for Higher Education
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "New Support System for Higher Education" was launched in April 2020 as a system to support motivated children in continuing their education at universities, junior colleges, technical colleges, and vocational schools free of charge by providing exemptions or reductions on tuition and admission fees, as well as grant-type scholarships that do not require repayment.
All undergraduate students who are eligible for scholarships are eligible to receive tuition and admission fee reductions according to the scholarship support category.
Since the amount of tuition and admission fee exemption is linked to the status of grant scholarship payment, if your certification as a grant scholarship student is revoked or payments are suspended, you will not be eligible for tuition and admission fee reduction or exemption.
In addition, it has been decided that starting from the 2025 academic year, students from large families will be exempt from university tuition and admission fees. This system will be implemented within the framework of the New Support System for Higher Education, so if you meet the conditions for support for large families and wish to be exempt from admission and tuition fees, please apply for the exemption by following the application guidelines below.

Admission and tuition fee exemption (new students)

Students who submit Form A1 will receive a reduction or exemption from admission fees and tuition fees in accordance with their grant scholarship support category.
Please refer to the Tuition Fee Exemption/Application Guidelines page for details on how to apply for an exemption.
*Transfer students and other students who used the new higher education support system at their previous school must have their previous school submit Form A-10 to our university. Please inform your previous school that you will be transferring to our university and ask them to submit the document.
Send Form A10 to: Student Affairs Section, Educational Affairs Office (gaksien1@cc.tuat.ac.jp)
Submission deadline: During the month of enrollment
Tuition fee exemption (current students)
Students who have been accepted as grant scholarship students and have been made eligible for the new academic support system by submitting Form A1 will be considered to have the intention to continue receiving tuition fee reductions under the new academic support system if they submit the grant scholarship enrollment report (April and October) without any delay. No other procedures are required to continue receiving tuition fee reductions under the new academic support system.
To reiterate, the amount of tuition exemption is linked to the status of grant scholarship payments, so if your certification as a grant scholarship recipient is revoked or payments are suspended, you will not be eligible for tuition and admission fee reductions.
