Emeritus Professor Takayuki Okayama, Associate Professor Satoshi Nakaba, Associate Professor Ryota Kose, and Professor Ryo Funada of Division of Natural Resources and Ecomaterials Institute of Agriculture, received the 74th Japan Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry Award on October 9, 2024.
This award is in recognition of the results of research carried out by Faculty Member members of the "Renewable Department of Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences Science" and student members at the time of the research (Atsushi Narita, Susumu Kawanobe, Tatsuhiko Sakawa, and Jin Hailan).

In order to evaluate the recycled paper pulp content in paper and paper products, we developed a method to estimate the recycled paper pulp content by calculating the average brightness (average fluorescence intensity) from image analysis of pulp fibers in recycled paper using a confocal laser scanning microscope.
